Are porcelain veneers for me?

Porcelain veneers are durable, custom-made, carefully sculpted laminates with the same translucence and texture of a tooth’s enamel. Used primarily to conceal discoloration or chipped or gapped teeth, porcelain veneers are a quick and effective choice to dramatically improve your whole smile. Veneers are not susceptible to tooth decay. Porcelain veneers are also stain-resistant, helping you maintain a glowing smile for years to come.

The veneers are not indestructible so it is important to be careful not to bite on hard food to keep the longevity of this material.

Fabrication of veneers generally takes about a week. Some sensitivity to hot or cold food is expected during this week before permanent veneers are put in place. During the final placement, veneers are bonded to the surface of buffed and prepared teeth with a light sensitive resin that is then hardened with a special white light.

It is important to get involved in the design of the smile. Having a dentist that understands your objectives and is knowledgeable about the procedure will make the process easier and more enjoyable.
